BioScience Laboratories was founded in Bozeman, Montana in 1991 by Dr. Daryl Paulson. The author of numerous texts and papers on the subject of antimicrobial testing, Dr. Paulson is known for pioneering the use of statistics in the design, execution, and analysis of efficacy and safety studies. With a commitment to scientific excellence and customer satisfaction, Dr. Paulson has led BioScience Laboratories through several stages of growth while keeping the company firmly planted in the community of Bozeman, where he and his staff enjoy the high quality of life filled with beautiful scenery and nearby outdoor adventures.

Planning for the next twenty years of continued commitment to the antimicrobial testing industry, their clients, and their employees, the company owners, Dr. Paulson and Marsha D. Brown MBA, built a 15,558 square foot laboratory building and a 6,400 square foot administrative building in Bozeman near the campus of Montana State University.

On March 8, 2021, BioScience Laboratories was acquired by Nelson Labs' parent company Sotera Health. Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician is to provide technical expertise in all aspects of laboratory equipment and facilities, building and supporting systems. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for following all regulatory requirements, maintenance/calibration procedures, common safe mechanical guidelines and good housekeeping practices while performing their duties. The Maintenance Technician will give technical advice, recommendations, and support to other departments/sections as support for projects, issues and/or questions.

Education and experience requirements:

High School Diploma OR equivalent with a minimum of three years maintenance experience. Technical trade school training in a relevant area (electrical, mechanical, etc.) preferred. Also, experience in a regulated environment a plus.

Experience in a regulated environment highly preferred.

* Know and follow applicable regulatory requirements (GMP, GLP, ISO, etc.)

* IQ/OQ/PQ familiarity is a plus

Essential Duties:

General

* Maintain, trouble-shoot, and repair all laboratory equipment.
* Maintain and operate calibration and maintenance recall system.
* Evaluate and recommend new equipment to meet laboratory needs.
* Assist in equipment and procedure validations.
* Assist in facility maintenance functions.
* Determine maintenance and calibration requirements and write necessary procedures.
* Maintain maintenance and calibration procedure files.
* Perform and monitor temperature/relative humidity recording.
* Preferred familiarity with RTD Probes, thermometers, pipettes.
* Monitor in-house (RO/DI) Water system
* Maintain in-house vacuum, air supply, and emergency power systems.
* Serve as a member of the training committee.

Work Environment:

* This job operates in a professional office and laboratory environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, keyboards, computer mouse, telephones, photocopiers, projectors and file cabinets.
* May occasionally work in temperatures above 95 degrees and below 32 degrees. (do not need to list when temperatures are within comfortable and normal settings during the work shift)
* May occasionally walk on slippery or uneven surfaces.
* Will climb ladders and work off elevated surfaces on an occasional basis during each shift.
* Noise level in the work environment is frequently loud. (Do not need to list when noise level is within normal settings during the work shift)
* Occasional travel during the business day.

Physical requirements:

* Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis and assist in moving heavy equipment, etc.
* Must be able to move/traverse 75% of the day and remain in a stationary sitting/standing position at a desk while using a computer, keyboard, computer mouse and phone 25% of the day. This position is not required to move or lift items greater than 45lbs.
* This position occasionally moves or lifts items greater than 45lbs.
* Wear personal protective equipment such as hoods, lab coats, safety glasses, goggles, gloves, facemasks, shoe coverings, and respiratory equipment as applicable.
* Climb up onto and down from equipment.
* Climb up and down ladder.
* Able to manipulate small hand tools.
