Job Description

The purpose of the Maintenance Technician Supervisor is to troubleshoot equipment throughout the plant, diagnose problems and supervise maintenance personnel making necessary repairs. Responsibilities include writing procedures for machine operations, operator checks and preventative maintenance and the supervision of preventative maintenance work.

Essential Functions

* Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair machinery and equipment.
* Operate machinery and equipment to determine the cause and extent of component or system failure through testing, visual inspection and listening for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions.
* Plan course of action and order the parts required for repairs.
* Complete all phases of plant facilities maintenance.
* Will analyze mechanical and operational problems on equipment and plan for scheduling of corrective action. Ensure necessary correction and running adjustments are maintained to provide maximum production and quality.
* Will initiate procedures for proper and safe machine operation.
* May supervise maintenance personnel.
* Work closely with the Engineering and Maintenance Departments on machine projects.
* Test, maintain and evaluate equipment performance using instruments such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, pyrometers and pressure gauges.
* Will perform skilled maintenance activities including construction, welding, brazing, soldering and plumbing.
* Prepare accurate records for preventative maintenance.


* High school education, vocational school or Junior Technical college training in electronics and/or equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
* Electrical training and knowledge of schematics required.
* Must have demonstrated ability in Programmable Logic Controllers, programming and troubleshooting.
* Must possess overall knowledge and ability in hydraulics and pneumatics.
* Five (5) years of experience working in a manufacturing environment or with industrial machinery.
* Ability to read, interpret and analyze electrical/mechanical schematics, block diagrams and flow charts.
* Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with staff.
* Able to make simple and complex independent decisions regarding equipment troubleshooting.
* Must be multi-talented; extremely flexible in work assignments and schedule.
* Ability to supervise both skilled and unskilled workers.
* Knowledge of machines, mechanisms and machine controls preferred.
* Must be able to demonstrate technical independence in determining work methods and procedures.
* Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trades involved.
* Skills in the care and use of tools and equipment used in the trades involved.
