Job Description

Management-level position responsible for managing all processes executed in support of NAM Cards and Retail Bank AML KYC, regardless of function, and having appropriate controls and monitoring in place to evidence compliance with applicable regulations such as Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act, as well as all applicable Citi policies. This role manages a team of control analysts covering risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and mitigation on a consistent basis across NAM Cards and Retail Bank businesses supporting any Know Your Customer activities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Identify control gaps, process inefficiencies, technology opportunities, and coordinate with key stakeholders to develop and drive solutions
  • Perform peer-reviews for AML KYC and independently validate processes on recurring basis to proactively identity risks and control opportunities
  • Interpret and understand governing policies to ensure processes are adherent, across functional areas to ensure compliance by leading implementation plans driving to adherence
  • Identify trends, themes, tendencies that indicate risks and manage deep dives in to any significant current or emerging risk areas
  • Proactively analyze various data sources to form an independent assessment/opinion of inherent risk and probe to understand the associated controls and residual risk
  • Proactively identify significant risks in the processes and develop specific recommendations for execution functions to action
  • Build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with key partners (e.g. - Operations, AML, ICRM Sanctions, Technology, Global AML, and Risk teams)
  • Create and present relevant material as necessary at senior level governance forums such as Business Risk Reviews and Business Risk Compliance and Control (BRCC) Committees as well as for meetings with stakeholders such as Regulators, 2nd and 3rd Line of Defense and senior management
  • Drive constant audit readiness activities across the AML KYC lifecycle, leveraging prior lessons learned, residual risk trends, and best practices to guide the functional areas for audits and regulatory reviews
  • Independently act as single point of contact and coordination for the US Cards and Retail Banking businesses during audits and regulatory reviews of the AML & Sanctions program to ensure accuracy and completeness of deliverables to mitigate derailments
  • Support the NAM Cards and Retail Bank AML Program Oversight Entity by maintaining control activities including Records Management, Continuity of Business, End-User Computing assessments and tracking, Key Risk Indicator tracking & reporting, iCAPS Issue tracking, and MCA maintenance.

Job Qualifications:

  • 10-15 years in at least one of the following: Risk, Operational Risk, Risk Operations, or Project Management with experience in compliance, legal or other control-related function in the financial services firm, regulatory organization, or legal/consulting firm, or a combination thereof; experience with NAM Card’s Lines of Business
  • Expertise of AML and Sanctions regulations, risks, and typologies
  • Must be a self-starter, flexible, innovative and adaptive
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to articulate complex problems and solutions through concise and clear messaging with people at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work collaboratively with functional units; ability to navigate a complex organization; to influence and lead people across cultures at a senior level
  • Experience working with stakeholders both within and outside the first line of defense
  • Proven leadership skills, with emphasis in high-stakes and high-visibility scenarios
  • Demonstrated knowledge in area of focus
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills with the capability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Advanced analytical skills
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; Advanced degree desired
  • Relevant AML and/or Sanctions Certification desired
