Duties include but are not limited to: Responsible for entering all payments onto patient accounts, utilizing EPIC to post the payments. The Cashier will need to interpret the information on the remittances identifying all the components as well as logging all denials, interest, and reductions. Responsible for the timely posting of insurance and patient payments received; review claim payments for accuracy and resolve problem payments by researching and contacting the insurance company and/or patient as necessary. The incumbent prepares an explanation of benefits (EOBs) for processing by verifying patient information, reconciling batches to checks, and properly crediting each patient's account. This position also performs various other duties as assigned by Financial Services Department Management and is an integral part of Financial Services to ensure uninterrupted cash flow and timely handling of accounts.

Must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as either:
A. a Data Entry Machine Operator, Data Entry Machine Operator (Spanish Language), Keyboard Specialist 1, Keyboard Specialist 1 (Chinese Language), Keyboard Specialist 1 (Spanish Language), Law Department Document Specialist Trainee 1 or Trainee 2, Office Assistant 1-Keyboarding, Office Assistant 1-Keyboarding (Chinese Language) or Office Assistant 1-Keyboarding (Spanish Language).
B. an office assistant or clerical title allocated to Grade 5 or higher.
